Quiet Minds was set up by myself, Alex, I have always had animals in my life, either as pets or as work companions and I instinctively know how they are feeling.
As a child I was encouraged by my parents to be quiet around animals so that they would gain trust. I have always maintained that this is the best way to gain confidence in them – just like humans, we need to time to observe and weigh each other up before we interact.
Later in life, I was very lucky to be able to buy a smallholding which I built up as an educational ‘farm’, the idea being to teach people about farming, animals and the countryside. The majority of the animals on the farm were ‘rescued’ and included a Pot-belly pig, goats, chickens, rabbits, ferrets and guinea-pigs. I spent time sitting quietly in their stalls or runs, simply just being with them; this allowed them to understand that they could be peaceful around and accepting of close contact with a human again. Through this new found trust, these animals were then able to be confidently fed, stroked and handled by other humans visiting the farm.
Since this time I have furthered my understanding of human/animal relationships through learning about Mindfulness, Reiki and animal communication. This has not only allowed me to deepen the connection and work with animals who have problems and their owners on a one-to-one basis but also explains why giving animals and humans peace-of-mind works, so obviously, to everyone’s advantage.
My qualifications include a degree in Primary Education, Diplomas in Animal Psychology, Canine Behaviour, Mindfulness, Animal Communication and Dog Training. I am Reiki I, II, Master/Teacher and Animal Reiki Practitioner Certified.

This is Freddie. I have had him from 9 weeks old, although very loving, he has always bitten me. He developed a habit of being aggressive when I am eating food, if I don't share it. Since quiet minds has worked with him, he stopped this behaviour. I was taught how to continue the therapy with him and in just a few weeks he is calmer and does not pester or bite. I would highly recommend Quite Minds.

Worked wonders for my dog, he's much more relaxed in the house and more confident and less anxious when out for a walk .. can't thank you enough.

alex is a lovely lady and my dogs have responded very well to her methods, she has worked with rescue animals for many years and understands their state of mind.

I have a Romanian rescue called Queenie who has separation anxiety and has been known to nip at strangers who enter her space. In the two years I’ve had her I’ve not been able to leave her alone without her howling, toileting in the house or destroying things. After just one session with Alex I’ve seen a huge improvement in her overall demeanor and she’s far less reactive to her usual triggers. I’m sure if I continue to practice what Alex has taught me things will keep improving and I’ll eventually be able to leave her for short spells.
I’ve tried loads of training techniques before but this is the only thing that’s made a noticeable difference. Queenie’s just so much calmer and so am I!!

What a fantastic lady! We have a Romanian rescue dog who can be quite anxious, and is a nightmare when someone comes to the door. We have tried dog trainers in the past, but the gentle approach that was taken by quiet minds was so much better.
A couple of sessions and there was a vast improvement in our dogs behaviour. We will be persevering with the techniques shown to us, and finally have hope that we can have a calm dog.

I’ve been working with quiet minds with my 20 month old Collie/Husky cross for just a few weeks, and I can already see him changing into a more manageable and calmer boy. I am so happy with his progress so far, I’m so much more positive about his future and I can’t thank Alex enough for all the help and advice. I would recommend this method of training to anyone who’s struggling with their furry friend
I never believed that after just 2 sessions with Alex that our very over excited and boisterous 2yr old rescue Fudge would be calm, the first week was challenging but the 2nd week a totally different boy!
Thank you so much Alex we will continue the teachings and will all be happier living at 1* or 2 instead of the previous 10
